WHAT Students ARE SAYING

I am pleased to take witness as Ms. Smith branches out to start her own school. While teaching at Empire Beauty school, Ms. Smith showed great passion in teaching her students how to excel in the cosmetology field. Her skill in cosmetology is what I want to eventually see in myself. Today I particularly specialize in protective styling, makeup application & makeup classes at select salons around the city of Pittsburgh.

I owe much of my success to my teacher, Lavona Smith. Lavona gave me several awards, but the one that I am most proud of was the Most Likely To Succeed. She knew I had it in me. The best part of her as a teacher is that she makes every student believe they can succeed. Teachers don't get any better!

I became a Salon owner in 2010. I’ve worked as one of only two PA State Test Evaluators. I taught as a cosmetology teacher at Fortis Institute and currently teaching at Toni & Guy.

Lavona was one of my favorite teachers during my cosmetology courses. She listened to my questions and always gave an answer. Lavona taught me everything from respecting clients to hair weaves. I now work in a med spa and am able to put to practice all of the different things I’ve learned.

Lavona was the best teacher I could've asked for. I remember being so nervous to start cosmetology school and thought I’d never actually do it. Until I found L&D Academy and met Lavona, I knew the first time we talked that I was going to love her and the school. She taught me everything I know and most importantly she was patient with me. She understood I needed a little extra help sometime and she went that extra mile. Today I work at JCP Salon in Johnstown Pa all thanks to her. I'm building my clientele, and I am confident in what I do.

Having Lavona as my cosmetology instructor at L & D Academy was beyond a blessing. The patience, and dedication Lavona has for her students is remarkable! She has a great passion for the industry, and it shows in so many ways.
